Bookshelves and Curtains and Family OH MY!

Oh?! Will you look at that...CURTAINS.
Bedroom Bay Windows

Rods went up over the weekend, curtains had to be ordered online due to lack of inventory at Bed Bath and Beyond and I'm super happy I went with the longer length.  Just looks so much nicer than having the curtains cut off 10 inches from the ground.

Yes that means I'll be dealing with dust bunnies, but I'm cool with that.  Style man, I gots to have style.

Bookshelves for the bedroom got here on Friday so that should help round out the major purchases for now. Also, all my money is gone.

I also moved my bed 90 degrees to the right (like any of you know which direction it was facing to begin with) and it really opens up the room.  I'm gonna need some inspiration for the walls though.  Grey is grey and I want to add the color to it.

But like, in artwork, not repaint the wall.

BOOKSHELVES!

Speaking of my money being all gone.  My family came in town for Father's Day weekend!

We went whitewater rafting at the US National Whitewater Center outside of Charlotte, NC.  Got some BBQ along the way and took part in the music/beer tasting festival that was happening at the center.

It was hot, we got wet, and drunk and had a great time.

My family is pretty cool.  I mean, we haven't always been so awesome, and usually within a holiday weekend someone will lose it, (this time it was me) but that's family.  For a while we were just 5 random people learning how to live together.  But now that we're all pretty much adults with full time jobs and activities and hobbies and life, so we're definitely cool now.

Yes, my sister and I look alike.

Thankfully they were just as concerned for my lack of living room furniture as I was, so on Sunday we went shopping and found a pretty nice couch. That's my younger sister, Leah, modeling it for you in a lighter color.  I'm getting it in mocha.

Then there was dinner, a movie (Chef is an adorable feel good family movie and we all loved it...dad didn't fall asleep once) and then came back to my house to help me build my pinterest inspired cubby display bookshelf.  See next post for details!

Overall, it was a great weekend, I only got frustrated once, and I think everyone had a nice time.

I'm really lucky to have a family that's so supportive and adventurous. And although my dad never really wants anything for father's day or any major gift-giving holiday, I hope he had just as much fun as I did enjoying his company.

Because honestly, he's the best.  Love you dad.
